When innocent, earnest student Masataka Tagami becomes a page for the wealthy Saiki family, he steps into a web of intrigue, lust and murder...Watase Yuu is best known for her shojo fare: Fushigi Yugi, Ayashi no Ceres and Absolute Boyfriend. While she often deals with dark story lines, Sakuragari kicks it up a notch and then some. Murder, betrayal, incest, graphic gay sex and rape are just a laundry list of the things to be found in Sakuragari. The story is painful to read at time, because the moments of happiness are few and far between, especially in the second volume, but it's extremely well written.Just when you think you can't be shocked, something else happens to horrify you. I actually annoyed my roommate, who happened to be in the room while I was reading, because almost page had me gasping in horror or saying 'Oh my god!'.
